Navigating through the Cascades region in Days Gone requires players to constantly evaluate environmental dangers, especially when attempting to clear Freaker Infestations. The Pioneer Cemetery Infestation zone presents a unique tactical challenge due to its uneven terrain, tightly packed nests, and proximity to roaming hordes. Staying informed via daily gaming news can offer fresh strategies for handling open-world survival encounters efficiently.

Locating the Nests Within Pioneer Cemetery

The Pioneer Cemetery Infestation consists of three primary Freaker nests scattered across the graveyard premises. One nest is located inside the stone mausoleum near the upper ridge of the cemetery ground. The remaining two nests are situated within the wooden shacks located along the perimeter fencing and near the parking lot entrance.

Preparing Your Loadout and Resources

Before initiating the purge, ensure Deacon has crafted several Molotov cocktails or equipped incendiary crossbow bolts. Carrying additional kerosene and rag reserves allows for quick crafting if extra fire sources are needed mid-combat. Maintaining a fully suppressed sidearm is also crucial for taking down emerging Swarmers without alerting distant threats.

Managing Emerging Swarmers and Nearby Enemies

Igniting a nest immediately forces a cluster of hostile Swarmers outside into the open. Position yourself with a clear line of sight and adequate space to backpedal while placing shots accurately. Be mindful of the nearby ambient horde that patrols close to the cemetery borders, as loud gunshots can trigger a catastrophic chain reaction.

Securing the Area and Claiming Rewards

Once all three nests are completely incinerated, the Pioneer Cemetery zone will officially be marked as cleared on your map. This eliminates local nest spawns, making traversal through the Cascades significantly safer. Additionally, clearing the area opens up new fast-travel routes between nearby survivor encampments and NERO checkpoints.
